The flooding of the Yellow River resulted in low water level and high salt content in Kaifeng area. Under capillary action, the bottom of Kaifeng city wall, which was mainly built with soil, was in a state of alternating wet and dry conditions. The continuous deterioration of the city wall caused by salt, frost heave, etc., how to control the occurrence of capillary action is a key issue for the protection of historical buildings. In order to explore the protection and restoration methods of city wall soil, this paper identified 4 types of 16 samples of imitation ruins soil, containing 0, 1%, 3%, and 5% by mass ratio of organosilicon water repellent agent SHP-60 improved imitation ruins soil. The capillary water absorption and water immersion disintegration tests of SHP-60 were used to explore the effect of improving the water physical properties of the imitated site soil under different SHP-60 contents, and SEM pictures were taken by scanning electron microscope to observe the microstructure of the soil sample, revealing the effect of SHP-60 improved imitated site soil Mechanism of action.

The experimental results show that with the increase of the amount of SHP-60, the improved effect of the imitation ruins soil is better. Among them, the imitation ruins soil with 5% SHP-60 content reduces the capillary water absorption quality by 92.34% compared with that before the improvement. The capillary force of the imitated ruins soil is reduced, and the water resistance of the soil is improved. A small amount of SHP-60 can effectively improve the disintegration resistance of the imitated site soil.
