Founded in 2016, the laboratory is a specialized one affiliated with the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Its predecessor was the Building Physics division of the Laboratory of Civil Engineering Foundation established in 2003. The laboratory consists of three divisions for building thermal engineering, architectural acoustics, and architectural optics, which are mainly responsible for undergraduate and graduate teaching and research in Architecture and Urban Planning.

At present, we mainly undertake the teaching of courses on Architecture Physics, Architectural Physics Experiment, Architecture Construction, and Building Fire Prevention. We also conduct experiments on solar radiation intensity, thermal conductivity of materials, heat transfer coefficient, sound absorption coefficients, surface light reflectance and room acoustics properties measurements. We conduct not only all the experiments required by the experimental teaching syllabus, but also the ones demanded by the newly added majors. In the meantime, we provide  innovative experimental services for our students.

With a total area of approximately 300 square meters, the laboratory is located in the 16th group of Jinming Campus with the architectural acoustics division in Building A and the architectural optical division and the architectural thermal division in Building B. The laboratory has more than 100 sets of equipment used for reverberation room, anechoic room, building daylight coefficient test system, thermal conductivity meter, building acoustics test system, etc.

Since its foundation, our laboratory has been committed to the continuous improvement of basic conditions and facilities as well as to the best integration of theoretical teaching and practical teaching and the upgrading of the level of teaching, so as to cultivate all-round and innovative talent with high quality and strong abilities.
