2. Introduction to school of civil engineering and architecture


College of civil engineering and architecture is a key engineering college of Henan University, formerly known as the Department of civil engineering, which was established in May 1931. After the adjustment of national departments, the discipline was incorporated into other colleges. In 1988, according to the needs of national economic construction, the school established the Department of Arts and crafts and architectural engineering. In January 1994, the Department of architectural engineering was set up. In April 2002, the College of civil engineering and architecture was established. Now it has teaching and research institutions such as Department of architectural engineering, Department of road and bridge engineering, Department of architecture, Department of urban and rural planning, Institute of materials and structure, Institute of steel and spatial structure, Institute of ancient architecture and landscape design, Institute of architectural design, etc.

   


At present, the college has 82 staff and 66 professional teachers, belonging to four departments of construction engineering, road and bridge engineering, architecture, and urban and rural planning, including 35 doctoral degrees, 1 part-time academician, 2 Yellow River scholars, 1 distinguished professor, 17 professors, 25 associate professors, 1 senior engineer, 1 senior experimenter, 4 backbone teachers of Henan Province, and 4 academic and technical personnel of Henan Education Department Four leaders. It has formed a teaching team with high academic level, strong professional ability and innovative consciousness, which is mainly composed of young and middle-aged teachers with reasonable structure of professional title, education background, age and academic background.


The college has three undergraduate majors of civil engineering, architecture and urban-rural planning, and three first-class master's degree authorization points of civil engineering, materials science and engineering, and design; civil engineering is the first-class key discipline of Henan Province, and architectural history and theory is the second-class key discipline of Henan Province. Civil engineering specialty was selected into Henan excellent engineer education and training program (Henan Engineering Education comprehensive reform pilot specialty). It has formed many academic groups such as "civil engineering" and "architectural history and theory". In accordance with the guiding ideology of thick foundation, wide caliber and heavy ability, the college has set up the modern education concept of taking students as the foundation and cultivating innovative and compound talents, and has made great efforts to pay attention to the construction of characteristic style of study and comprehensively implement quality education. In order to build the basic platform for undergraduate education, the college has successively established a full-featured civil engineering foundation laboratory, geotechnical engineering laboratory, architecture and structure CAD laboratory, architectural structure reliability testing and evaluation laboratory, structural engineering laboratory, architecture and urban planning and design virtual laboratory, with well-equipped multimedia classrooms, six channel servo loading system and other advanced teaching facilities Learning and experimental facilities. The college pays attention to academic exchanges. At present, it has established academic contacts with universities in the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries and regions. The college attaches great importance to the quality of personnel training. Through the joint efforts of all previous party and government leaders, teachers, students and staff, we have achieved great development and achieved excellent results. At present, the scale of undergraduate students in the college is stable at about 1200, and there are about 1300 students undertaking related majors in the college, about 2600 students in the college, and more than 1800 adult students of various types. Students in the national architectural design and building model making competition, the national concrete material design competition and six provinces in central and southern China civil engineering professional structure design competition won many awards, set a historical record of colleges and universities in Henan Province. Training requirements


This major has a flexible educational system. The basic educational system is five years. Students can complete their studies in four to eight years and be awarded a Bachelor of engineering degree.
