The institute is mainly engaged in research work in Song Dynasty architecture, ancient architectural literature collection and sorting, architectural archaeology, ancient construction and ancient city protection, and combines academic research, talent training and social services.
Professor Li Hequn, the head of our institute, has a doctorate in history. He is currently the leader of the key discipline of "Architectural History and Theory" in Henan Province and a doctoral tutor in archaeology in our school. Mainly engaged in the teaching and research of architectural history, ancient city protection, architectural literature, etc. More than 40 papers have been published in national and provincial academic journals. He has edited 6 sections, and presided over 6 national and provincial projects such as the National Ancient Committee of Colleges and Universities and the Ministry of Education.
In terms of social services, he has been actively participating in the protection, development and utilization of ancient cities and buildings in Henan. In recent years, he has presided over the production of protection and development plans for the famous historical and cultural city of Dengfeng, Linying Xiaoshang Bridge, Xinyang Chengyang City, Huangchuan Yiyang Ancient City, and Yucheng Renjia Residence. Especially in the service area, as a member of the Kaifeng City Construction and Planning Expert Group, he has repeatedly provided suggestions on the protection and utilization of the ancient city of Kaifeng. He has conducted special research on topics such as the inclination and correction of the Kaifeng iron tower, the restoration of the defensive facilities of the Kaifeng city wall, and the Song Dynasty style under the background of the old city reconstruction. And in 2013, it undertook the "Kaifeng "New Song Style" Urban Construction Research Project" entrusted by the Kaifeng CPPCC.
