The institute is one of the most distinctive research institutes of the School of Civil and Architectural Engineering of Henan University. We have 6 staff members, including 2 professors and 4 associate professors. Among our staff, there is one registered structural engineer and four registered civil engineering engineers. Five of them received their doctoral degrees. Our staff members teach professional courses for both undergraduates and postgraduates; meanwhile, they are mainly engaged in research in composite foundation and pile foundation, deep foundation pit support, deformation characteristics and control technology of geomaterials, soil-structure interaction, and soil microstructure and constitutive relations. In recent years, our staff has undertaken and completed an array of national and provincial scientific research projects, published over 100 SCI and EI papers, obtained or applied for more than 10 patents, and won provincial and ministerial education, scientific and technological progress awards for many times. In order to meet the urgent needs of local engineering construction sector, we have cooperated with construction units to carry out a number of horizontal scientific research projects. We have not only contributed much to solving regional geotechnical and underground engineering problems, but also created enormous economic and social benefits. At present, we have built an innovative research team with strong scientific research abilities, high academic levels, a reasonable structure, and a stable direction.
